If you’re only paying attention to the New and Full Moon phases, you’re cherry-picking the cycle, and you’re leaving a shit-ton of untapped energy on the table … quit it.
Cyclical cherry-picking. I see it everywhere. The constant barrage of energetic whiplash between high and low, peak and valley, yin and yang, illumination and shadow. It’s exhausting and overstimulating to the senses. Not just the five senses of sight, smell, sound, taste and touch, but the energetic senses.
Cyclical nature is what governs and drives our being-ness in this world for this life. When we skip phases, either by intentional overlooking or avoidance, or because we haven’t learned about them, we stifle our growth, expansion and ascension.
Think of it this way: If we skip or miss an hour of our day, we feel off, out of sorts, like something went amiss. And it is. It throws off our whole sense of self and we feel “wobbly” for a while.
Skipping or missing a phase of the Moon, for us spiritual, energetic-types, is just like skipping or missing an hour in our day. Our whole sense of being, energetically and emotionally feels jagged, sharp and out of sync.
And it’s inevitable that if we’re cherry-picking phases in this area of life, there will be cherry-picking in other areas of life too.
Cherry-picking phases of your menstrual or energy cycle. Cherry-picking phases of childhood/parenthood. Cherry-picking phases of life. Cherry-picking values. Cherry-picking _____ (fill in the blank).
This is a habit and pattern, and just like any other habit and pattern, we are in control of changing them.
First, look at the ways in which cyclical cherry-picking is working against you. In what ways are you feeling out of sorts and out of sync? Be honest with yourself. Allow yourself to unconditionally observe and acknowledge the sharp edges mood, mindset and motivational fluctuations. The highs and lows, the sharp turns and jagged peaks and valleys. These are the book-ends of your energetic parameters, the range of polarity and contrast.
Second, get a midline baseline. Anchor into your values, your word of the year, or the point of your most genuine integral intention, vision or goal. Apply this to a micro project or short-term goal, or try it on with the macro perspective of your most genuine sense of self, or living life as your “soul-self”.
Third, start from the defined edges of energetic book-ends, your polarity range, and work towards meeting both sides to the middle baseline.
This framework is broken down oh-so perfectly when you follow all eight of the moon phases, working with both sides of polarity, those book-ends that signify yin/yang, doing/being, giving/receiving, generating/sustaining.
