The “Lunar Template” Series

Many women pay attention to the moon to work with their emotional energy, especially the New and Full moon phases. These two phases in particular highlight the valley and the peak energies of the moon, but this leaves so much more wisdom, guidance and personal wholeness on the table.

The New Moon is a great time to begin incorporating the moon phases into an energy management practice, after all it is the beginning of the cycle. So let’s start here.

The above image is my personal interpretation of the energy around the New Moon phase, after learning about what the New Moon represents in general, and from my own personal experience and how I feel during specific this time.

There are a couple things that I found super helpful to keep in mind while working with the moon phases…

Each moon phase is approximately 3 days in length (give or take a day). This relieves some pressure to having to work with certain phases on a specific day.

Especially as a mom, I found this so relieving because I wasn’t going to “miss an opportunity” to work with the energy of that phase.

Also, the phases alternate between Yin and Yang energy. As I’ve talked about in past blogs, this is a built in reminder to tune in and practice giving and receiving, which is a lost concept among women these days.

Because of these aspects, the Moon is quite flattering and forgiving. It really offers a template of time and energy management that meets you where you are, allows you to tweak and adjust according to what you’re experiencing mentally, emotionally and physically.

Back to the New Moon phase.

This phase is a Yang energy. It’s about initiating energy, getting things started, brainstorming, planning and re-emerging from a hibernation/vacation mode (Balsamic Moon Phase).

Many people like to set intentions and goals during this phase. I have found in my personal experience that I’m really just getting ready to set goals and intentions, not necessarily knowing what they might be just yet.

From a more general, day-to-day standpoint, this phase is perfect for creating a master list of all your non-negotiables, need-to-do’s and want-to-do’s for the upcoming month/cycle.

This will change over the course of the month/cycle, but you can start to map out a tentative schedule each week, scheduling certain tasks and to-do’s to a complimentary energetic state.

In a nutshell, this can help create more cohesion in your schedule by scheduling the higher-energy, extroverted, output to-do’s during your higher energy and extroverted states, while the more introverted or softer, restful to-do’s are saved for your lower, slower energy states.

Again, the New Moon, from my perspective, is about brainstorming, planning and getting things organized, before diving right into “go-mode”.

The most important invitation that the Moon has for us is to become more and more aware of our inner energy, the way we adjust that inner energy to change unnaturally to meet the standards and expectations of the external world, and how we can begin to adjust what we do and how we do things to our energetic fluctuations.

Building this practice takes time. Even just adjusting something small each day, week or month to align with your current energetic state is a win. You’ll start to notice the natural harmony, ease and efficiency in your daily life.

There will be times that your schedule doesn’t align with your energy. Things will come up unexpectedly. But, as you build awareness and cultivate your schedule, you’ll be able to tap into a refillable reserve of energetic bandwidth, patience and energy, to navigate and mitigate those unpredictable circumstances.

That is the power of using the moon phases as a template for your personal Energy Management.
